A List of Dos
- do send a maximum of three pieces on a CDR. If it is easier to send a full-length album, add a note pointing out three tracks or sections you think we should hear. If you would like the tape or disc returned, please enclose a stamped self-addressed label/padded bag.
- do say whether the pieces are typical of your main body of work.
- do include some details of musicians and/or recording methods, recent performances, future plans and connections, if any, to your local music scene or traditions.
- do, please, write timings and titles on the inlay card and make sure everything is properly labelled.
- do tell us whether you mind the piece being edited to fit the compilation.
A list of Don’ts
- don’t expect an instant response.
- don’t send multitracks or original master tapes.
- don’t think of us as a record company. UP works more like a journal, licensing individual tracks from the owner of the recording.
- don’t worry about losing composition royalties - we pay MCPS for every sales copy manufactured, and you will collect performance royalties through PRS (or BMI, GEMA, etc) or your publisher.
